We are proud to announce the return to the stage for one of Britain's greatest ever rock and roll bands

The original line-up of The Godfathers, consisting of Peter and Chris Coyne, reunited with Mike Gibson, Kris Dollimore and George Mazur for the 1st UK concert in 19 years, will play their traditional ‘Saint Valentine's Day Massacre’ on February 14th 2008 at The Forum, Kentish Town, London. More selected European dates are also being announced. The reunion Band will see The Godfathers claim back their international status while promoting the expanded reissue of their independent debut album ‘Hit By Hit’, now a double CD set, which will be available in February on the band’s Corporate Image label. Formed in 1985, The Godfathers earned a reputation for their no-holds barred live shows and electrifying brand of primal rock 'n' roll while touring extensively the UK, Europe and the USA. Pioneering their own brand of guitar-driven alternative rock sound, they laid the foundations for the Brit Pop rock resurgence of the nineties. After acclaimed independent single releases produced by Vic Maile [including Lonely Man, This Damn Nation and I Want Everything] collected on debut album Hit By Hit [1986], they signed to Epic Records in 1987, releasing a string of great singles from their acclaimed international best selling albums: Birth, School, Work, Death [1998], More Songs About Love and Hate [1989] and (after the departure of Kris Dollimore) Unreal World [1991]. Rumours of a return to the stage for their traditional Saint Valentine's Day Massacre concert in London have kept their faithful followers waiting for decades…until now!!!

The Godfathers

one of London's finest bands of the late eighties and early nineties are rumoured to be ready to reform for a one off 20th anniversary 'St Valentines Day Massacre' gig.
Live In Auston 89The St Valentines Day Massacre shows were the band's flagship live performances which took place annually on the 14th February in venues varying from their spiritual home at The Marquee in Wardour Street to the London Dungeons and were always sell outs. The raw energy of their live performances distinguished them as London's premier live guitar driven rock and roll band with a dynamic mixture of early Stones, Jimi Hendrix and Sex Pistols all rolled into one and delivered by the five piece immaculately suited and booted in the way the Godfather name would suggest.
Their legions of fans queueing outside the gigs for some reason never transformed into record sales and chart success eluded them although the memory of their pulsating performances lives on.
Music-news awaits more information on this as nothing has been announced but it seems at least four members of the original five will be there. Let's hope we can enjoy the full line up. This gig may not provide The Godfathers with the success they may have deserved but at least it will be the official goodbye we never had.

New Album

Legendary British rock and roll band The Godfathers are reuniting their original line-up to reissue an expanded 21st anniversary edition of their debut album Hit By Hit in February 2008, which has been repackaged to include 19 extra tracks. Selected headline shows and festival dates to promote this will include their traditional Saint Valentine's Day Massacre concert at the Kentish Town Forum [ formerly the Town & Country Club ] in London on February 14th 2008.
After 19 years away from the world’s stage the original classic line-up of The Godfathers is reforming to play some selected dates to promote the reissue of their seminal debut album ‘Hit By Hit’. The influential 80s band were regarded as the finest exponents of Brit-based rock ‘n’ roll and were regularly hailed as one of the best live acts in the world. The re-issued Hit By Hit album comprises all the single recordings from the band’s early career on their own independent label Corporate Image, augmented with studio and live extra tracks culled from international live shows and BBC Radio One Sessions.

The Godfathers were formed by Peter and Chris Coyne from the ashes of The Sid Presley Experience, which lasted from 1983 to 1985. Touring extensively the UK, Europe and the USA, they earned a reputation for their no-holds barred live shows and electrifying brand of primal rock 'n' roll. After acclaimed independent single and album releases The Godfathers signed to Epic Records in 1987. Their guitar-driven unique brand of alternative rock sound stood out in the synthetic UK music scene of the time, while laying the foundations for the Brit Rock resurgence of the nineties. The Godfathers' raw lyrics and garage punk sounds were featured in several BBC Radio 1 Sessions despite the fact that mostly middle-of-the-road DJs dominated the station, then the main youth pop radio channel in the UK. Particularly epic storming rocker 'Birth, School, Work, Death' made the top 40 US Billboard charts in the late eighties after heavy College Radio play but, despite their music standing the test of time much better than other music from this era, they were only marginally recognised in the UK. Nevertheless the super-loyal following never gave up on seeing the fabulous five at least one more time and rumours of a return to the stage for a new installment of their traditional Valentine's Day Massacre in London have kept thousands of dedicated fans guessing in anticipation for years.
